Hello everybody!
I hope you all are having a grand day, and I have some resources for those who are in need of some binders and are pretty tight on money!
If you are like me, you might find yourself in need of a binder sometimes. Don't worry, I'm here for you! Below I will post some websites that you can go to for maybe some help within your area (not just US exclusive!). I am including websites for general help, grant apps, even some binders! I'll post a list of the websites that all of these gems were obtained from at the bottom.
For them free pre-loved binders:
In a Bind: Began in 2012, as of today, In a Bind has provided safe compression garments to over 1500 young folks in need. Trans-masculine and genderqueer fellas living anywhere in the US can apply to get one. In A Bind depends on donations, so if you have one that you don't need anymore or you've gone up or down a size, pass yours on to the project! *This is for US residents age 18 and under!*
Black trans Advocacy FTM Binder Grant: This is for the African American community who finds themselves in a financial 'bind' and wish to still receive surgery. There is two programs with this one, one for trans men and women.
MORF Binder Exchange: Based in the UK, MORF has been providing free binders to trans-masculine people across the globe! All you have to do is pay for postage! So far, MORF has redistributed hundreds of binders, shipping out over 280 in 2014. *There is a monthly catalog that is subject to change as the month goes on. You can opt to take one from the current catalog or defer to the next month.*
FTME Free Youth Binder Program: Based in the US, this program is available to those with a US mailing address only and age 24 and below. *The recipients are chosen by random lottery and have only one style of binder available.*
Replace the Ace: This one is for US residents only, sending out hundreds of binders to those who are trans-masculine and in the process of conversion. *As of 6/26/16, they are still recovering from a long hiatus (7000 requests!) so give the folks at RtA some time to process the requests. Also, if they cannot oblige your request, they will refer you to other programs.*
Big Brothers Binder Program: *Before I even begin, this one has very strict requirements, including donating to get a binder. The US has a $5 minimum.* Started in 2001, BBBP has been partnering with Underworks to provide the trans-men of the world with a binder to help aid in their transitions. Providing binders to men young and old (with parental help if their boy is under 18), BBBP makes new or worn oncebinders that would be too hard to afford, affordable.
Come As You Are Binder Bucks Recycling Program: This is a program based in Toronto, so this one services Canada only.
Qmunity Binder Exchange: Kind of like the program above, but for British Columbia, Canada only. QBE is for the trans youth in British Columbia that cannot obtain their own bras, breast forms or binders. You can drop into the office and speak with the receptionist or fill out the application!
Trans Fellas: I can't really say much about this one, you're on your own with this one (sorry...)
Northern Ireland Binder Scheme: *Also before this one, you have to be located in North Ireland and be age 25 and under. Give them some time to process their current requests, they are also very backed up!*
Point of Pride: *Formerly Point 5cc, now 100% free!* Point 5cc has moved their binder program to their charity, Point for Pride. This one is now completely free, and all you have to do is go to this link and put in your info and a 300 character or less reason on your current financial need and what this binder will mean to you. Currently (10/28/16), there is 187 people on the wait list and the wait time is 3-5 months. I personally have requested one and urge you to check with this one in your first few searches!
Those that require a purchase:
Point 5cc T-Shirt Co.: This one is really simple and awesome! Free binder with a t-shirt purchase. Just add the free binder to your cart when you're ready to buy your clothing and boom! *Your order may not ship for some time as they try to get your binder if they don't have it readily available!*
That is my list as it stands, I will keep it updated as I do some more research and ask around. As always, you have your regulars like Underworks (if you get one of these, please get one from the "Extreme" line), gc2b and others, but these are some great options for those who have money troubles.
Until next time, friends!
