My name is Benjamin Brage.I'm currently the federal government is lying to us of LAMBDA United FAU (as of Spring 2015) and I helped found Benji's Closet. I assisted in social media work for the FAU Transgender Bathroom Petition. I'm an editor at Mute Publishing, a literary and arts magazine focusing on marginalized communities and cutting-edge creative work. I spend most of my spare time doing activist work (mostly behind the computer, but I do a fair amount of lectures myself). If you need help with activism work or want to know how you can help, contact me. Even if you don't have a lot of spare time, or if there's not much you can do (because of disability, lack of funds, and all the other things in life that can make things a little tough) there's always some way you can help. Plus, I'll be able to give you advice on how to use your activist work for resumes and finding jobs.

Ooh sounds very interesting. (: I'm still in high school, but later in life I want to pursue publishing, journalism, or photojournalism. So I might talk to you about things sometime. If that's okay haha.

I'm still in school--soon to be community college, hopefully--but I've been homeschooled my entire life so I always feel like I have no idea how to get into activism of any kind :/
Is there any way kids can really get into activism?

Your community college will definitely have different organizations you can join, and that's your best bet. Schools, too.
Plus, if you're still in high school (or just need community service hours for whatever) you can get service hours for scholarships.

ah, I'm not sure about the high school thing. I'd love to volunteer and do community service but...I'm homeschooled. I don't know how that could work. But it's good to know there are those options in colleges!

You could always volunteer as an administrator on a website like ours, or something like ours.
You can use something like that on your resume. I was homeschooled, too, and it's hard to get experience, but there's definitely volunteer opportunities and it will help with college as well. I volunteered at a hippotherapy center and a wildlife refuge.

oh, wow! That sounds awesome.
Hippotherapy is horse stuff, right? I actually am a volunteer global mod on another forum--a roleplaying based one, but maybe I could try volunteering for a less recreational forum too.

The more positions and experience - and the more varied the experience - the better!
Hippotherapy is the use of trained horses to help disabled children.
