Hi! I'm a cis girl named Maddy, and I'm writing to ask some questions about demigender as an identity! I couldn't find a thread on the topic, so I figured I'd ask here.
I'm writing a story, and making some OCs, and I wanted to write a lot more diversity in my characters, including different gender identities, but I wanted to make sure I was doing it right. I've since learned that there's not much about demigendered folk to find on the internet. What I have found though, is really cool! I think it might be a good fit for one of my characters, but before I get too far writing them, I want to make sure I do it right.
I think, first and foremost, I want to know if anyone has any specific things they want to make sure nobody gets wrong about demigendered people, or if there's something that people tend to get wrong about the identity. Stereotypes or bad habits people fall into to look out for when trying to be mindful. I was also wondering if (and this can probably apply to genderfluid people as well) one's identity as one gender or another is ever linked to their emotional state? I know that might be an iffy question, it might be offensive? But that's why I want to ask, not to upset people, but to make sure I'm doing it right.
It would mean the world if someone could help me out, and thank you so much to all who read! I don't know a whole lot about trans identities, but I'm trying to know more, and learn as best I can. I'm still ignorant in a lot of things, so I'm sorry if I stepped on any toes, it was not my intent. Let me know if I did, and I will do better in the future.
Love and support to all!!
Maddy
