I'm afab genderfluid and I get fairly bad dysphoria, almost completely in regards to my chest. I've been thinking about top surgery for a while and I know that I can afford it and can get it without going on t but my psychologist (who is also afab and gender diverse) suggested a low dose of testosterone that comes in a gel form? Apparently this has some of the effects of t (mainly fat redistribution, clitoral growth and an increase in libido) and she seems convinced that due to my age (18) this could almost completely flatten my chest, despite the fact that I'm a 10D in Australian sizes. I'm indifferent about the clitoral growth but I am pretty averse to the increase in libido. There is also the possibility that if it doesn't completely flatten my chest it will decrease it to the point where top surgery is much simpler, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows more about this (apparently it's more common in America but I had never heard of it before) and whether it's worth it with the time it will take to have effect, especially if I really don't want an increase in libido.

I have heard of several forms of testosterone. The ones I know are the gel form like you said, shots, this like tablet that dissolves in your mouth and patches. The shots make change faster but might be more masculine than you want. I've heard of feminine trans men going on T and then stopping so they don't get super masculine. The clitoral growth takes a few years to get like noticeable (not the right word but yeah). The gel might actually be a great option for you figuring they should have a smaller affect.

T does redistribute your fat, but it's pretty unheard of that T (especially a low dose) would completely take that load (excuse the pun) off your chest. Top surgery exists for a reason, unfortunately T doesn't do that much in the chest-area.
Libido really depends on the person. I'm fairly asexual (never really had that much of a sex drive) and even though I've been on T for about 6 months, I haven't had that much of a sex drive change. It varies ofc, but most people tend to just make a bigger deal out of it than it really is.
Low doses of T (even in gel-form) have the same effects as normal doses, it just takes longer and is a bit more subtle for a while. Eventually you're going to have the same stuff happen to you, so time is really the only thing changing.
