Do you guys think there are types of feminism? I have seen two very drastically different types of feminists. The "All men are pigs and we are better than them" and the "Equality for all" Type. I am not trying to be offensive but to be honest I am not really a feminist, I feel as though all average (Cis straight and white) people in America are as I like to say equally unequal, men are lower or treated worse in some ways and women in others. Like men are expected to pay for dinner and men are the more commonly disregarded if they say they are raped or abused and they also tend to lose custody battles. On the other hand women can be paid less for the same work and be over sexualized and even harassed. It just seems to me that it is sort of okay, I am not saying I don't want equality, because who doesn't, what I am saying is are you sure you are fighting for the right thing? It seems to me that anyone who isn't what I classified as the average person has life most times a lot worse than the average man or woman.

The idea of feminism is gender equality. A lot of issues that men have based on their gender stem from the patriarchy and the ideas that women are weak and unintelligent, such as the fact that they are expected to pay for meals. Since women are supposed to be weak, men are supposed to be strong and if they show weakness, they are being too feminine, which is where the idea that men cannot be raped or abused comes in.
A lot of people call themselves feminists, but they aren't really. They're radicals. They just happen to be the vocal minority, which happens often, such as with Islam or the Tea Party representing all Republicans. The fact that people don't want to call themselves feminists because they don't want to be associated with radical feminists, in my opinion, keeps us from reclaiming the movement and making feminism mean good things and gender equality again.

I agree with Rebecca, women who think they are better than men or the other way around kind of defeats the purpose of feminism
