a shoutbox is a forum chat system! instead of having to make a thread to talk, it's a little box on the side of the screen that can be used for chatting. would this be a good idea? if so i know how to set one up!

I'd love this! I know a chat was done before by Benji's Closet before the forumwas set up, but was unable to join in because the website hated me. A shoutbox would be very cool.

Its pretty much a miniature chat box, where people can leave messages and talk, unless I'm remembering wrong. Its a really easy way of talking to people who may be on the website.

The one thing I'm really worried about this is the potential for abuse. Mods can lock and delete posts on the board, but if someone posts triggering content to a shoutbox, then we're screwed.

Mods can lock and delete posts on the board, but if someone posts triggering content to a shoutbox, then we're screwed. not true! there is a certain chat service called Cbox, and for just a measly two dollars a month, you can have a chat box with admins and tons of other features INCLUDING deleting messages and banning abilities! it's a super awesome service and works wonderfully. it would be super easy to implement! you can assign certain mods with this too, as well as custom themes and backgrounds! |
