Hi!
I'm Aoife, I'm genderfluid/trans/something and I'm from Scotland. Guess I probably prefer she/her pronouns but I really don't mind that much.
I'm interested in politics, I can bore people to death on the subject fairly easily. Also interested in tv and music, got a serious addiction to The 100 right now. I'm also a pilot but that's another story.
Anyway... Hey!

I have a friend who's a pilot and I got to fly the plane for a bit. It was awesome. It's so cool that you can do that.

Yeah, I love being able to fly, something I've always wanted to do. I can't really say much more about what I fly because it's a fairly small community so I'd risk identifying myself.
Only problem is that airfields tend to attract fairly conservative old men so they're hardly the most tolerant places.

oh my god that's super awesome friend!!! i've always wanted to fly, before i realized i was trans, I was in the civil air patrol, earning hours towards my lisence. but just like you said, our FBO was always full of conservative old men who just gave me the cold shoulder. i had to opt out.

Yeah, it's a major issue for me, if I came out as genderfluid or gay to the people there then I probably wouldn't last particularly long either, honestly I probably wouldn't even feel safe. I'd quite like to set up some sort of LGBT aviation support group in Britain and try and do something about it but I don't have enough connections to do anything like that yet.
It's a shame really, aviation is amazing but it's incredibly exclusive, I hope you can get back in the air at some point.
